How Late Can You Order a Canvas Photo Gift for Christmas in Austin?

In Austin and nearby cities you can order a canvas photo gift very late: free next-day delivery covers orders placed by 3 PM, same day delivery by 8 PM covers orders placed by 1 PM, and before the holiday our last orders can arrive on Christmas morning, before noon. For anywhere else in the US, order by December 10. Canvas photo prints start at $65.

Christmas is the busiest time of the year for photo gifts, and most of the stress comes from one question: will it arrive in time? This guide answers that first, with a clear calendar for Austin and for the rest of the country. After that, it covers gift ideas with real prices, which size to pick for which wall, how to send a photo that prints well, and what to do if you only remember about the gift on December 23.

Everything here is based on how we work at Austin Canvas Prints: we print every canvas in our own workshop in Austin, stretch it by hand and deliver orders in the Austin area ourselves. Prices below are the prices on our site in November 2026.

What are the Christmas 2026 order deadlines?

The Christmas 2026 deadline for a canvas print depends on where the gift is going. In Austin and the suburbs we deliver ourselves, so the deadline is the day before (3 PM) or the same day (1 PM), up to Christmas morning. For the rest of the US the canvas travels with a carrier, so the deadline is December 10.

Business days do not include weekends, and carriers are slower in December than in the rest of the year. That is why we give one date, December 10, for all orders outside the Austin area, even with Express shipping. If you are past that date and the gift is going to another state, email us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it can still make it.

How does Christmas delivery work in Austin?

Christmas delivery in Austin works the same way as the rest of the year: we print, stretch and deliver the canvas ourselves, so there is no carrier in the middle. Free next-day delivery covers Austin and 83 nearby ZIP codes, including Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Hutto and Manor.

For a regular order, place it by 3 PM and it arrives the next day. There is no extra charge for this delivery, and the price you see on the product page is the price you pay. You can check the delivery area and the details on our shipping and delivery page.

If you need the canvas on the same day, order a same day canvas by 1 PM and it will be delivered by 8 PM. Same day delivery works seven days a week, weekends included. The 1 PM time is strict: a same day canvas is printed, stretched and delivered by hand in one afternoon, and there is no room to start later.

Before Christmas we deliver in Austin right up to the holiday: the last orders can arrive on Christmas morning, before noon. If you are planning a gift for the morning of December 25, send us an email when you order, so we can confirm it with you in advance.

What if the gift is going outside Austin?

A canvas gift going outside the Austin area ships by carrier anywhere in the US, and for Christmas 2026 it should be ordered by December 10. Economy shipping is free and takes 5 to 8 business days. Express shipping costs $24.95 and takes 2 to 5 business days.

The time in transit starts after the canvas is printed and packed, and in December every carrier handles far more parcels than usual. A few days of margin protect you from the most common Christmas problem: a parcel that is on its way but arrives on December 26.

If you live in Austin and the gift is for family in another state, the same rule applies: what matters is the delivery address, not where you place the order. For a gift that has to be in Dallas, Chicago or New York before Christmas, December 10 is the date to remember.

Which canvas gift fits which person?

The best canvas gift is the photo the person already loves: a family picture, a wedding day, a pet or a trip. The format then depends on how many photos you have and whether you want words on the canvas. Here are the five canvas formats we offer, with starting prices for the smallest size.

A single canvas photo print

A canvas photo print is one photo printed on canvas and stretched on a frame, ready to hang. It is the simplest and most affordable canvas gift, from $65 for 8×12 inches up to $149 for 20×30 inches. It works best for a photo that is strong on its own: a family portrait from this year, a first photo of a newborn, grandparents with their grandchildren, or a landscape from a trip you took together.

A canvas photo collage

A canvas photo collage puts several photos on one canvas. It is a good choice when one picture is not enough: the best moments of the year, the kids at different ages, or a series of photos of the same dog. A collage costs from $85 for 8×12 inches. With more photos, choose a larger size, so each photo stays big enough to see from across the room.

A canvas with words, names or a quote

A canvas print with text combines photos with words: names and a wedding date, a short poem, your vows, or a line that means something to both of you. It is one of the most personal Christmas gifts for a husband, wife or parents, especially in a year with a wedding or an anniversary. Prices start at $85 for 8×12 inches.

A pet portrait

A pet portrait is a canvas made from a photo of a dog or a cat, printed in a chosen style, for example a modern style with the pet’s name on top. For many people the pet is the family member who is in the most photos, so this gift lands well with dog and cat owners of any age. Our pet portraits start at $95 for 8×12 inches.

A split canvas set for a big wall

A split canvas set divides one image into 2, 3, 4 or 5 separate canvases that hang side by side. It is the right format for a wide photo or a panorama, and for a large wall above a sofa or a bed. Sets start at $107 for 2 pieces, $167 for 3 pieces, $207 for 4 pieces and $247 for 5 pieces.

Which canvas size should you choose for a gift?

For a gift, choose the canvas size by the place where it will hang: small sizes such as 8×12 and 12×12 suit a shelf, a desk or a narrow wall, medium sizes from 12×16 to 16×20 suit a bedroom or a hallway, and the largest sizes from 18×24 to 20×30 suit a wall above a sofa or a bed.

Look at the price steps before you decide. From 16×20 up to 18×24 the canvas photo print price grows by $14, while the canvas gets about a third bigger, so if the wall has room, a bigger canvas gives you more canvas for each dollar. The jump comes at 20×30, our largest size.

A few practical points help with the choice:

• If you do not know the wall, a medium size such as 12×16 or 16×20 is the safe choice for a gift. It fits almost any room.
• Square photos from a smartphone fit 12×12, 16×16 and 20×20. A regular photo from a camera fits 12×18, 16×24 and 20×30 without cropping.
• Every canvas comes with a hanging kit, so the person can hang it on the day they open it.
• Our canvases are stretched on thin 0.75 inch stretcher bars, so they sit close to the wall.
• The largest single canvas we print is 20×30 inches. For a very wide image, such as a panorama, a split canvas set is the better format.
• Sizes that are not in the list, for example 14×14, are possible up to 20×30. Email us before ordering.

How do you send a photo that prints well on canvas?

A photo prints well on canvas when you send the original file in full size. A picture saved from social media or sent through a messenger is usually compressed, and a compressed photo can look soft on a large canvas. The original from your smartphone’s gallery or from the camera keeps all the detail.

1. Find the original. Use the photo from your smartphone’s gallery or the file from your camera, not a screenshot or a picture downloaded from Facebook or Instagram.
2. Upload it at checkout. The checkout page has a field for your photo. If the file is not at hand, place the order and email the photo to support@austincanvasprints.com right after, with your name and order number.
3. Tell us about the crop. If something must stay in the picture, such as a person on the edge of a group photo, write it in the order notes or in your email.
4. Let us check it. We look at your photo before printing and enhance it if needed, so you do not need to edit it yourself.

Have a question about a photo? Email it to us before you order. We reply within an hour or two during business hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, seven days a week.

How do you order a canvas gift step by step?

Ordering a canvas gift is short: choose the format and size, go to checkout, add your photo and the delivery address, and pay. There is no separate cart step: the Order Now button on a product page takes you straight to checkout.

1. Choose the format: a single photo, a collage, a canvas with words, a pet portrait or a split set.
2. Choose the size on the product page and press Order Now.
3. At checkout, upload your photo and write any notes: names, dates, the words for the canvas.
4. Enter the delivery address. Inside the Austin area, delivery is free and arrives the next day for orders placed by 3 PM.
5. Pay and wait for the canvas. In the Austin area we bring it to your door ourselves.

For a canvas with words, prepare the text before you start: names spelled exactly as they should appear, the date in the format you like, and the poem or quote. Checking the text once more before you order is the easiest way to avoid a mistake on a gift.

Is it too late on December 23 or 24?

On December 23 or 24 in Austin it is not too late for a canvas gift. Order a same day canvas by 1 PM and it arrives by 8 PM the same day, or place a regular order by 3 PM for free next-day delivery. Our last orders before the holiday can arrive on Christmas morning, before noon.

The same day canvas prints cost from $115 for 8×12 inches to $199 for 20×30 inches, with the same day service already included in the price. If a delivery the next day is enough, a regular order costs less: the same 8×12 canvas photo print is $65 with free next-day delivery.

For a last-minute order, a few things save time:

• Have the photo ready before you start the order, so you can upload it at checkout.
• Pick a single photo or a simple layout. A collage or a canvas with a lot of text needs more checking.
• For a Christmas morning delivery, email us when you order so we can confirm it.

At Austin Canvas Prints the 1 PM time for same day orders stays strict on December 23 and 24 as well. If you are close to it, it is better to choose next-day delivery than to miss the same day slot.
